I LOVE the simple, discreet design, and the fool proof ease of use. The cake looked amazing. HOWEVER!!!By the time the bride and groom were to cut the cake, we were horrified to see that all cake layers were tilting forward at an angle and about to slide right off the display plates. The stand was assembled properly and placed on a stable level table top indoors on a level concrete floor. There was no user error regarding sound location or use. I had no reason to worry that a METAL WILTON CAKE STAND would be inadequate. The only possible explanation I can offer is that this cake was triple filled (4 layers of cake and three layers of filling, for each 4" high cake), as might be expected for a wedding cake. It is clear that this stand would only be adequate for unfilled cakes with very little frosting or decoration. In 18 years I have never had that simple of a request for a wedding cake... We are using it in a couple of weeks for a cupcake cake for a wedding. I wish it came with square boards also but I think we will build some out of Masonite. The bottom tier is 16 inches across, the middle is 12' and the top measures 8. It is also very easy to assemble, disassemble and store.
